Fire Dancing

After dinner, the village hosted a bonfire with drumming and dancing as a send-off celebration for the 12 VIDA volunteers who’ve been here for a week and are leaving tomorrow. It’s been fun spending time with their group of teachers and medical students. Having them at the bonfire was a great way to start my two weeks in the village. Boys and girls, young and teens, men and women, and even the elders, took turns asking us to dance to the pulsing of the drums. My body doesn’t move anything like the way these beautiful people do so naturally, but I had a blast (and hopefully the smile on my face throughout the evening showed that I didn’t mind at all).

I can just see you dancing up a storm. Sounds like you are having fun and learning too!
